GOD’S GIFTS OF FAITH

Worship regularly
Attend worship on a regular basis. Those who worship more often tend to
experience closer connect with God and their church community.

Pray regularly

Read/study God’s word regularly
Regular Bible reading is the spiritual practice of incorporating the Word of
God into daily life and practice..

Participate in St. Timothy opportunities to study the Bible in the Adult
Forum (Sundays 9 a.m., Lenten Soup and Study, and Miriam Circle (Third
Wednesday of the month at noon.)

FAITH IN ACTION/WORSHIP

Join a Choir
The Alleluia Choir and Jubilate Bell Choir are open to anyone wishing to contribute to the musical life of worship. The Alleluia Choir sings at the 10:30am Sunday worship service, and the Jubilate Bell Choir plays several times throughout the year. Both choirs rehearse weekly. Singers can also take part in the Pick-Up and/or Festival Choirs which sing on Easter and Christmas as well as a few other days in the year.

Bring your child to Youth Choir
The Youth Choir, rehearses prior to Sunday School and contributes to worship
occasionally throughout the church year.

Play or Sing Musical Offerings
St. Timothy welcomes offerings of liturgical appropriate music throughout the
church year.

Read
St. Timothy welcomes the worshipping community to read scripture.
Occasional training sessions for readers are held.

Communion Assistant
Assist with distribution of Holy Communion during worship. Occasional
training sessions are held.

Altar Care/Communion set up
Prepare the Altar for worship, attending to candles and preparing the
elements for Holy Communion. Teams rotate each month of the year so no
individual or couple needs serve more than one month.

Church Decorating
Assist in decorating the church for liturgical seasons and festivals such as
Easter and Christmas.

Be an usher
Ushers are a second line of hospitality and seek to make sure worship flows
well through their attention to behind-the-scenes details.

Be a Greeter
Greeters offer hospitality for all who worship and assist Pastor in welcoming
guests.

Be A Counter
Meet after the 10:30 service to count the offering collected during weekend
services. We have at least 4 teams of 3 or more people,

Serve as a Wedding Coordinator
Wedding Coordinators attend the wedding rehearsal and on the wedding day
help ensure that everyone is in the right place at the right time.

Serve as a Funeral Coordinator
Assist Pastor and funeral director with placement of pall, paschal candle,
flowers, bulletins, etc. Help seat guests. Act as usher and or/ coordinate
ushers as needed. Relay messages to organist as needed. Supervise clean up
of narthex, nave, and chancel.

Take Communion to shut-ins
Under the direction of Pastor Mountenay, bring communion to those unable to
attend worship.

Serve on the Worship Committee
The Worship Committee has responsibility for planning and coordinating the
many details of worship services.

HOSPITALITY

Invite friends and family
All members affirm a commitment to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in
word and deed.

Assist with Sunday Hospitality
Brew coffee, bring cookies or cake, help serve during coffee hour after each
worship service.

Assist with Hospitality events.
Help plan and set up congregation dinners other special congregational events.
Assist with funeral repasts.

GIVE

Practice Generosity
Generosity includes the sharing of time, talent and financial resources.

Serve on the Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee is an ad hoc committee that develops ways to
invite members to deeper lives of faithful stewardship of their time, the talents
and their treasure.

Assist with special projects for mission
On occasion there are opportunities to volunteer within the church and in the
community.

STUDY

Teach Sunday School (grades Pre-K—7)
Sunday School meets from September through May when school is in session.

Substitute teach Sunday School
Be available to teach classes when the regular teachers are unavailable.

Serve as a Teaching Assistant
Assist a Sunday School teacher with lessons.

Lead or Assist Adult Classes
Lead or assist with Adult classes throughout the year.

Assist with Confirmation classes
Be a mentor, leader or teacher for St. Timothy’s Confirmation classes for
eighth and ninth grade.

Serve on the Christian Education Committee
Be a part of the committee that ensures all of St. Timothy’s education
ministries provide opportunity to grow in relationship with Jesus.

SERVE

Angel Circle
Sew or pin or tie together quilts for charity and shut-ins. Meets the second
and fourth Wednesday of each month at noon.

Angel Gifts
Help coordinate and deliver Angel Gifts to families of Head Start.

Bosnia Servant Trip
Be part of the travel team to Bosnia. Provide hand-crafted gifts and/or
financial support.

Christmas at Sea
Donate items (caps, scarves, tee shirts, sweatshirts, candy) for merchant
sailors far from home at Christmas. Help package gifts for merchant sailors.

Facilities Committee
Oversees maintenance and repairs needed to the churches buildings and
systems. Works in conjunction with the property committee to execute and
complete repairs needed in a timely matter.

Heart ‘n Hands Mission
Help us serve the homeless and working poor by sorting clothing, joining a
delivery team, or assisting with publicity and events.

Hymn Sing at the Atrium
Meet at the Atrium on the 4th Tuesday of each month to sing hymns with the
residents.

Knitters and Crocheters
Make prayer shawls, chemo caps, infant caps , scarves. .

Monday Morning Crew
Meet Monday mornings to assist with tasks including carpentry, painting,
plumbing, electrical, masonry, cutting grass, and arrange tables and chairs for
events.

Monday Morning Gardeners
You don’t need a green thumb to help maintain the grounds and gardens.
Meets every Monday morning.

North Jersey Interfaith Cares
Help our Syrian neighbors throughout the year through special projects.

Stew Sunday
Provide a stew once or twice a year for guests at Eva’s Kitchen.

Valentine Care Packages
Bake cookies for college students and military personnel in January.
Help box cookies and treats for college students and military in February.

Wayne Interfaith Network Food Pantry
Donate food items, paper, and personal products. store gift cards, and cash to
WIN. Assist with packing up Thanksgiving baskets on the Sunday before
Thanksgiving.

Youth Chaperone – help chaperone a youth event or assist with service
project.

SELF CARE

Adult Book Discussion Group meets on the third Tuesday of the month,
10:30am in the parlor.

Bookworms meet the second Saturday of the month, 9:30am at Barns &
Noble.

Chair Yoga: Helps create feelings of balance and clarity. Meets Tuesdays at
11:30. There is a monthly fee.

Prime Timers: Opportunity for senior adults to connect with one another.
Monthly speakers and other activities. Meets the first Wednesday of each
month at 11am.
