Christian Education at St. Timothy
Sunday School classes for young people age 3 through grade 9 are held throughout the school year at 9:00 am. Many parents opt to attend our 9:00 am service while their children are in Sunday School. When the service is over (usually around 9:30) they gather in the beautiful SonRise Bistro for coffee and fellowship until their children are dismissed from their classes.
In addition to weekly classes, our Christian Education program includes special events, such as a Happy Birthday, Jesus Party, a Palm Sunday Family Breakfast, and a Hunger Awareness Sunday. Learning is fun and friendly at St. Timothy!
Most ninth graders at St. Timothy affirm their baptisms in the rite of confirmation on the Day of Pentecost (the Sunday falling 50 days after Easter). They spend two years preparing for confirmation, attending weekly Sunday School sessions, worshipping regularly, participating in youth retreats, and performing a service project with an adult mentor. Our confirmands often become teaching assistants or Sunday School teachers after they have completed the program.
Christian Education isn’t only for kids. There is an adult forum which meets at 9:00 each Sunday morning where participants discuss current events in the light of their faith. There is a book group that meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00, and the Miriam Circle offers a women’s Bible Study on the second Wednesday of the month at noon. On Wednesdays in Lent, we gather for “Soup and Study,” five sessions that begin with a simple meal at 6:00 pm and continue with prayers and a Bible study at 7:00. Pastor Mountenay offers other Bible studies throughout the year.
